Apexlib : "the" development framework for APEX

Apexlib is "the" development framework for the Oracle web development environment APEX (Oracle Application Express).
The framework makes use of the APEX repository, where all the information about the application is stored.
It enhances APEX by providing different new functionality which APEX currently doesn't offer. For example:

Cascading Lovs (select lists and popup lovs) which use AJAX, so that no page roundtrip has to be done.
Out-of-the-box Browser validation
Access layer for tabular forms to handle the Apex_Application.g_fxx arrays
Replacement of the APEX error page, to show the error as inline error message in the calling page and to highlight the column cell which has an error.
and so on...

APEX 102 : Handy APEX app for javascript junkies

Came across a post on Andrew Tulley's APEX blog which pointed me at an APEX application which shows details of the all of the javascript functions available in the htmldb_html_elements.js library.

Nice to be able to search through these and get a little explanation about what they do.

APEX 101 : Check this before you install.

This is my first post about APEX and it starts at the beginning.
Once again I have fallen into the trap of assuming that Oracle Text
and Oracle XML DB are both installed in the APEX target database.
Of course, the sneaky little beggers were not but the APEX
installation went away quite happily and installed itself, only giving
errors in the last few steps.
The checks below will verify whether Oracle Text and Oracle XML DB are
installed in the target database before you get started.

As sysdba
select * from ctx_version; -- To confirm Oracle Text Installation
select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry; --Look for XML DB in result

Update from the APEX Development Team
We talked this over and agree that it is a good idea (and would save our time on the forum and supports time too). We will handle this like we allow you to check prereqs in a packaged app before installing. Thanks for bringing it up.

A nice little article from http://geekybits.blogspot.com which shows you how to add a Tag cloud to your blog...NICE :-))

Dizwell Blog Closes Down

Dizwell Infomatics have closed it's doors for good.
It would seem that something happened which disillusioned Dizwell with
the Oracle community.
This is a shame as the valuable knowledge on the site which was in the
public domain is not hidden.
DORIS will be sorely missed :-(
